Signal Box Diagrams of the Great Western & Southern Railways

Good news - a reprint of Volumes 1 and 2 of this series has been published by the Signalling
Record Society.
Volume 1 covers the GWR lines in Dorset, whilst Volume 2 covers the SR lines in East Dorset.
Originally published by the author in 1993-94, both volumes are now available once more after
being out of print for a number of years. Each volume contains an addenda and corrigenda of
additional information that has come to light since first publication.
The late George Pryer originally produced Signal Box Diagrams in 27 volumes, covering the GWR
west of Reading, and parts of the Southern - mainly the ex-LSWR lines, including the Somerset
and Dorset Joint Railway. In addition, there was one volume of the LMS in the Bristol area.
Mrs Pryer commented, “I think George would like you to reprint the track diagrams”, when giving
authorisation for the SRS to embark on the project to reprint the volumes. They will be
progressively released over the coming months and years.
The Signalling Record Society shares knowledge of railway signalling and operation in the
